Nima was born in downtown Los Angeles. He received his bachelor's degree from UCLA, where he worked with Dr. Paula Diaconescu synthesizing ferrocene chelating heteroscorpionate complexes of zinc. He then went across town to USC where he received a master's degree in stem cell biology under the supervision of Qilong Ying, helping develop the culture conditions to differentiate chicken embryonic stem cells to skeletal muscle. He is now working on his PhD in chemistry as a joint student in the labs of Drs. Jose Rodriguez and Alexander Spokoyny where he works on constraining peptides around small molecule scaffolds as a novel therapeutic modality. In his free time he enjoys playing tennis, lifting weights, and cooking.
